With a geared beam trolley fitting wide flange or S-type I-beams coupled with lifting chain block used on overhead equipment beyond operator’s reach, the load in traversing direction is moved by an operator simply and the trolley will travel in the opposite direction by pulling a hand chain, then hand-exerted small force across chain pulley block gears inside the hoisting unit which facilitate wheel movement to multiply into one large force enough to raise or lower the designated load, or over a pulley, drum, sheave to leverage the force strong enough to lift, so heavy loads can be lifted by bottom load hook attached to a chain, rope, or wire through manual force of worker using hand chain, when the operator’s hands are released, the load will be held in place by mechanical disk brakes (Weston-style brakes) which secure the load once it has been lifted and control the descent of the load when it has been lowered to make the next pull, safety catches is included in both top and bottom hooks to ensure the load and the hoist is secure once suspended and lifting.
Although test load is 1.5 time of rated load, we still suggest customer to use within maximum rated load and operators should never attempt to lift a load heavier than it,
Headroom is the distance from the bottom of the load hook to the top of the hoist, it is “H” in the diagram on above PDF down load file and is the minimum vertical space needed for chain block to hang freely and operate correctly.
Lift is the maximum vertical distance for moving a load by hook, if lifting height is 3m, normally manufacture needs 3.7-3.8m loading chain for one loop since extra chain is inside the chain pulley block.
Pull force describes the force needed to lift a load. If a 1 tonne chain block specifies a pull force of 304N, then operator needs to be able to pull a 304N weight in order to lift the maximum 1 ton load.
