Electric windlasses are gear reducer transmission type electric winches used to pull or lift heavy objects. They are operated by a motor and have a wire rope wound around a rotating drum. Usually, a hook is installed at the cable end. As the cables of an electric windlass are extended to the object, for example a vehicle which is to be towed, the gear levers will be pushed in the opposite direction of the object, causing the spool to wind up. And then the cables are pulled back in while the spool winds. Finally, the object is pulled safely to an appropriate place. Electric windlasses are powered by the battery of a vehicle on which they are installed.
Windlasses have been assisting with people’s handling of objects for millennia. They are used by ancient Greeks to lift heavy objects, hoist bridges and in major architectural projects. Today, as part of a booming product market, more and more choices of electric windlasses are becoming available, which also expands the using range of windlasses.
These electric windlasses are widely applied in vertical and horizontal handling of materials and mainly used to pull of lift heavy objects in road and bridge projects, civil construction, mining area, factory, port, marine, digging sand workshop, hydraulic engineering and many other fields. An electric windlass winch is made up of a cable wire, a drum, a motor and a gear train, each with a single purpose in working. A cable wire is wrapped around a drum which is circular in shape to avoid entanglement. There’s a spool in electric windlasses allowing the drum to rotate to wind the cable in or out. A motor’s function is to power the drum to turn. A gear train converts the power from the motor into pulling power and thus an electric windlass can have the capacity to pull and lift heavy materials.

2. Drum Transmission
These electric windlasses adopt 2 level gears decelerating transmission way. Coupling leads the drum directly. The replacement of rejected wire rope or change of wire rope’s rotation direction is very easy and convenient.
3. Electromagnetic
These electric windlasses are designed for both static and dynamic loading. In case of sudden power cut, the brake will automatically work. The surface friction area is very large and adjustments or serving is not required.
4. Gear Box
The gear box is strong and durable and the operator can free from worrying the structure breakage.
5. Special Motor
The windlasses adopt insulated B, 3 phase electromagnetic brake synchronism motor or single phase capacitor running electromagnetic brake motor. They are featured by big start torque, small inertia, and lower temperature rise. Besides, these motors can bear frequent work for a long time.

6. Driving Gear
The anti-wear gears with bearings are heat treated and have high driving efficiency and durable performance. Made of high quality steel, these gears are highly precise. 7. Machine Fixture

11. Brake Mechanism

2. Effective line management
①Do not carry to much winch cable because it may get snagged, damaged,or bunched up on the drum when you pull. Some spare extension cable can help for longer distances.
②Do feed the winch rope straight through the fairlead so it will wrap smoothly and linearly around the drum. Feeding with an angle will weaken the performance of winch.
3. Notes
①Regular check and maintenance is necessary to ensure safe operation and prolong working life of them.
②Never use them to hoist or pull people.
③It is possible that individual wire strands break and harm unprotected flesh. So it’s advisable to wear gloves, especially during the use of wire rope.
④Put a blanket or towel on the rope whiling using a wire rope for energy of a sudden rope snap can create a whipping effect.
