The Difference between Ring Chain and Wire Rope Electric Hoist

Wire rope hoist and chain electric hoist are the main types of electric hoist made in china. Wire rope electric hoist is small in size, light in weight, various specifications, simple in operation and easy to use. But the ring chain electric hoist is smaller and lighter than the wire rope electric hoist. The biggest difference between the two is that the chain electric hoist replaces the wire rope with the chain. Next, I will introduce the difference between the two electric hoists in detail.

 1. Different Operating Distances            

 The wire rope hoist's axis is parallel to the center line of its trolley track, while the ring chain hoist and the center line of the running track can be installed at 90 degrees. Therefore, under the same condition and track length, the running distance of the latter is relatively long.

 2. Different Volumes           

 The winding device of the chain electric hoist is the ring chain, and the rotation of the sprocket is the key to the lifting. The winding direction of the chain on the sprocket can be set at will with high flexibility and reasonable structure, so the volume is small. The winding device of the wire rope hoist is the wire rope. The lifting and winding device rotates by the reel. To reach the maximum height, the wire rope needs to be winded at least three times on the reel. This leads to the increase of the length, height and volume of the drum. So the wire rope hoist of the same specification is several times or even more than ten times that of the chain hoist.

 3. Different modifications            

 For wire rope hoist, because the working environment of different lifting height and the length of the machine is different. The object with lower lifting height can not be changed into one with higher lifting height. On the contrary, although it can be refitted, the reel of the electric hoist after refitting will be idle, causing waste. The model of the chain hoist has nothing to do with the lifting height, only with the length of the chain, the chain can be easily replaced. In this respect, electric hoist with ring chain is much more convenient than electric hoist with wire rope.

 4. Different lifting heights            

 The lifting weight of wire rope hoist depends on the elastic deformation of the wire rope winding only on the drum. The smaller the diameter of the drum, the larger the variable of the wire rope type. Because one side bears pressure and the other side bears tension, the drum diameter needs to be increased in order to make the two forces do not exceed the stipulation. The chain hoist is hinged, and the chain mainly bears tension. In order to reduce the extrusion strength between the chain and the contact surface between the chain and the sprocket socket, the sprocket will be made into a socket. It can be seen that the diameter of the former drum is larger than that of the latter sprocket, so the lifting height of the former is smaller than that of the latter.

 5. Different service life            

 Generally speaking, the wire rope of wire rope hoist is relatively thin. If the equipment often works under the conditions of humidity, high temperature, acid and alkali fog, the wire rope is easy to break. However, the cross section of the chain hoist is relatively large, and the core material can generally resist high temperature and oxidation, so it will not change greatly in harsh environment, and the life of the chain hoist is longer.

 In a word, under the same specifications, the ring chain hoist has longer service life, better tensile resistance than the wire rope hoist, and there will be no problem of rope disorder, so it has more advantages than the wire rope hoist.
